Terms of use

Last updated: 19 July 2026

These terms cover your use of Ourlot (ourlot.uk). By creating an account, you agree to them. Ourlot is a free product — we've kept these terms short on purpose.

What Ourlot is

Ourlot is a household directory that lets you record the trusted local businesses you use — a plumber, an electrician, and so on — and get a heads up if one of them stops trading. It's free to use.

Your account

You sign in with Google via Clerk. You're responsible for keeping your account secure and for anything done under it. You must be at least 18 to create an account.

Your household's data

The businesses, notes, and choices you add belong to you and your household. You can export or delete them at any time — see our privacy policy for how.

Trading status information

Ourlot checks public Companies House records to flag when a business you've added stops trading. This is provided as a helpful heads up, not a guarantee — always confirm directly with a business before relying on its trading status for anything important.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Ourlot for anything unlawful or to harm others
  • Attempt to access another household's data
  • Interfere with the service (scraping, overloading, reverse engineering)

No warranty

Ourlot is provided free, as-is, without warranty of any kind. We do our best to keep it accurate and available, but we don't guarantee it will always be — and we're not liable for losses arising from using or being unable to use the service.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms as Ourlot grows. We'll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell account holders directly.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
